Bedlinen Guide

The most important thing to consider when deciding what bed sheets to buy is the fabric. The main materials used in bedlinen are cotton, polyester, or a combination of both.

We all know the importance of sleep, as the quality of your sleep can determine the quality of your days and your bedlinen can make all the difference to the comfort of your bed, which in turn will help create the perfect environment for a restful sleep. The following is a description of the different types of fabric to help you decide which best suits your needs:

Egyptian cotton

Egyptian cotton bedlinen  is considered by many to be the best because of the length, strength, and softness of its fibers. A longer fiber means a stronger fabric and the ability to create a high thread count fabric.

Our Egyptian cotton is soft and breathable for a comfortable nights sleep. This fabric does require ironing.

Brushed cotton

Brushed Cotton, or Flannelette fabric undergoes a mechanical brushing process where fine, metal brushes carefully rub the fabric to produce fine fibres from the woven yarns, creating extra softness on the surface.

It is thick but lightweight and fluffy to the touch. Made from 100% Cotton which means it is not only warm, but also breathable. It is ideal in the winter or just for that little bit of extra comfort.

Polycotton Percale

Our superior quality percale bedlinen blends 50% Portugese combed cotton with 50% polyester which is woven to a 180 thread count for a finer finish than standard fabrics.

This is an easy care fabric which washes well and needs minimal ironing without sacrificing that soft cotton feel and breathability.

Polycotton

Polycotton is a mix of cotton and polyester fibers, however, the higher the percentage of cotton, the higher the quality of the bedlinen.

Like Percale this is a breathable easycare fabric which requires minimal ironing.

Polyester

Polyester fabric is machine washable, quick-drying and wrinkle-resistant. A synthetic, naturally bright fabric, suitable to those on a budget.

Because polyester is 100% synthetic it doesn't absorb water, so cannot regulate body temperature. It is not recommended for anyone with sensitive skin, or those suffering from dermatisis, eczema or any skin conditions.
